Post my eg is dying...

i took my car to wash this evening and i left the engine on while i clean up and when i'm done, my car was dying (did not get it to start). I tried to put the car in gear 1 while push down on clutch and let go (had two people help push the car)...it was able to start for a second and it die again. i was told that it could be the alternator or battery that need it to replace...what do you think and know?

any help and opinions?

charge your battery and then check alternator output.

I am not clear about what part of the car you were washing, the engine bay or the exterior? If it was the engine bay are you sure you did not get water in the dizzy? That will cause it not to start and run. If your car was running and you had minimal electronics on your car should run with the batter being dead. I have driven many cars without batteries in them. However, I had the stereo off and using minimal electricity so the alternator was doing its job.

if you could start it up and keep revving it a bit, to the point where you stop and then yur car dies, it could be your alternator...if it only keeps cranking, and no fire, listen for the fuel pump prime while you first put it into the on position or check for spark by spraying some starter fluid into the throttle body...if nothing then it could be your dizzy, or spark wires

I had all the spark plugs, wires (NGK for both plugs and wires) and distributor install this past summer. That was b/c I was able hear while pop up the hood and had it done before it die on me.

I remember having few cranking to get the car to start like 2 to 3 weeks before it died yesterday. My cousin and I will be checking it it today. If any of you have the same problem, let me know and tell me about it...that way the next time, i'm prepare for it.

Thanks for all your input here..

wow...I was able to get the car to start again today again. What could it be that I wasn't able to get to start yesterday?
