If I were you I would trade. That is if it is as clean as you del sol. I can't remember which year they changed, but is the 240 a KA24DE (DOHC) or KA24E (SOHC)?

generally the price of hondas is a bit higher than those of 240sx's esp in bone stock form. unless his is really clean and you know its been taken care of then youre on the short end of the stick...that is unless your car isnt up to par with paint and interior.

no sorry i dont have any pictures of the 240sx, his is real clean no rust or anything, paints good and so is the interior. my del sol deff needs a paint job and has bad rust on the skin of one door and a little behind the tires, but the interior is mint.

Depending on your financial situation I would not trade for these two reasons
1. The other car might already be someone else's headache i.e. has problems that he is not disclosing.
2. The other car gets lousy fuel economy and with the current situation in the Middle East which not get better, gas will will more than likely go up before down.

if you spend the same amount of money on both, 240 would smash . and i think the 240 is more fun.

Re: (SkRiBLaH)
yea i agree with the whole turbo 240>b18c del sol thing. my friend has a sr20det in his 91 240 and i was door to door with him in my stock gsr powered ek hatch. and a del sol is lighter and type r swap makes more power and has a way better tranny.

ur putting too much faith in it, especially since the damn thing is turbo ready and turbo setups are just as common for it as they are for civics
u spend the same ammount in each the 240'll wreck it...

Iono about the whole economy thing... I mean yeah gas'll go up, but u said "lousy fuel economy" which is "no" -- the fuel economy is pretty damn decent on the 240's, if u beat on 'em they've got power and will burn gas...but daily driven, they're pretty aight on gas...
I would swap, b/c I love the 240SX's, they're great cars all around...but it's ur call in the end..my friend has one..one of the older ones, just bought the JDM sylvia SR motor for it...it's gonna own... it's quick already... Only thign I don't liek it is I've driven his car in a few snow storms and I noticed that u really g2 becareful... mostly b/c it's RWD but because of it's torque you think ur feathering it and ur giving it more gas & torquing it more than u think..
I'm going to get a 240SX at somepoint, I love 'em, I'd definately do the swap O.o
whichever way u choose, besta luck to ya

I guess its not that lousy, but here are the numbers from the autotrader.
Del Sol Si: Highway Mileage 34 mpg City Mileage 27 mpg
240SX: Highway Mileage 26 mpg City Mileage 21 mpg

you guys are all talking smack like a RB is easy to put in... i had a hell of a time fitting an RB20DET into an '89 240SX... to be honest with you, just pick the car you like...
I would personally just stick with a del sol - much easier to fix than a Nissan and Nissans of the period have many electrical gremlins... this is coming from a former owner of a 240sx S13 and a 300zx 1990. .

In our "honda head" perspectives, of course the Honda cars are gonna be easier to work on. I personally work at a shop that does pretty much all nissan stuff, and i can personally say that its definatly a different, but if youre used to them like we are with our hondas, its relatively simple. Also, with the electical thing you mention of, yes nissan does have more electrical problems than hondas do, but otherwise as long as you have the engine harnesses done correctly and keep your MAF sensor connections clean theyre usually not an issue at all.
To the original poster...regaurdless of everyones opinion, whats your goal with the cars?
To the gas milage issue...the stock KA24 engine will never get as good milage as the stock del sol S engine as someone quoted from autotrader, but after you do a swap in the Del sol...say gsr which gets 31 highway and 25 city (average also from autotrader), and a stock sr20 swap in the 240 youll get about the same milage assuming you drive the same.(plus or minus one or two mpg). Now this is in a heavier car where youll get more torque, easier power upgrades (i.e. boost up or bigger t25 turbo with tuning of course), etc etc.
Keep in mind that nissans in general arent targeted for theft as much as hondas are (they are still targeted though), a del sol with suspension work can outhandle a 240 with the same suspension work (mcpherson style struts dont seem to work as well), and both have major aftermarket support.
Why'd you go onto Honda-Tech to ask if it was a good idea to trade for a 240? lol
I hope this helped anyone, i just wanted to share what i know
