I did a dumb thing and my Del Sol fell off a jack and landed on a 4x4, denting the oil pan pretty bad. I think I should replace the pan so it doesn’t distort and leak but I don’t know if I would have crushed the pick up. The dent is in the front and the back is intact. Where is the pick up? Help?

What pick up are you talking about?

Just get a new oil pan.

Pull the pan, and see what's going on, then replace any damaged parts

Just pull the pan off and see if you bent/broke the oil pick-up. It isn't that hard, just have it up there better than when you smashed it.

The Del Sol fell off a piece of wood (4x4x8") that was on my floor jack to give me enough height to get the 6 ton jack stands out. It is in the garage af a very idiotic mechanic, mine. I am always 100% sure there are multiple supports before I get under the car but I got a little careless when I was not under there myself.

Before I pull the pan (in zero degree weather) I was wondering if the oil pick up is in the front or back of the pan as I smashed the front only. BTW, what are the chances of pounding out the pan?

Anybody know the torque value for the pan bolts?

Thanks for the .jpg! I can't see the oil pick up. Could it be #20 & 30?
I think the pan is going to be expensive.

that pic doesnt show the position of the oil pick up killa. From looking at the engine, the pick up is on the right side pretty much in the middle. (at the deep part of the pan)

The pick up is in the middle, like he said. Oil pan for a d-series is pretty cheap about 30-100 bucks in the classified.
