My D16 setup help
Decided to do some shopping. Havent made up my mind on some things. Honda guys, opinions please:
Motor:
SRP pistons 9.0:1 149210 75.5mm
Eagle Rods CRS5394H3D
ACL bearings (rod, main, & thrust) 0.001+???
Stock crank
Sleeved D16
arp head studs
new water pump, oil pump, etc
honda oem gaskets
This motor will be NA for a little bit. I do plan to throw on a T25 or 14b turbo on at one point but not right away. One thing at a time. I have a Y7 motor and am doing a Y8 head swap which will give me a 9.5:1 compression roughly all motor. Plan to boost it at about 8psi later down the road. I would think if I am going for a bigger piston, I would definatly need to sleeve it. I am confused about the ACL bearings saying 0.001+ can someone help me out with understanding that?
As far as the head goes:
possibly ss valves but maybe stock ones w. 3 angle depending what they look like
supertech springs w/ retainers
Comp Cams 105-100 cam (street cam)
new lifters, seals, bronze guides
The tranny:
Tranny:
ACT2100 HD-00 clutch heavy duty pressure plate with street disc
Fidanza Flywheel 191161 8lbs
Ex or Si tranny!!! Si tranny because it has a LSD
Does anyone have any opinions or other suggestions for the setup? I think I am right about there to start ordering parts and getting this thing on its way. All this should go down over about 2 weeks while the honda is in for paint. I am just trying to get last second opinions. I am doing a y8 head swap with y8intake man TB, and ECU.

Re: (POE)
I don't think you watch the FI forum that much.
One of the last big d16's in there was a guy puzzled at why he couldn't make much power. He was confused why he could only make 335whp with a stock-sleeve block (rods/pistons/bearings) Everyone else was too until he mentioned he had a BONE STOCK HEAD on it.
I'll make my little edits if you don't mind (get the underlined stuff)
Motor:
SRP pistons 9.0:1 149210 75.5mm Remove one 'head' item, and you can have better forged pistons like Wiseco/CP/Arias
Eagle Rods CRS5394H3D
ACL bearings (rod, main, & thrust) 0.001+??? Make sure you plastigauge it, mix OEM bearings as needed
Stock crank
Sleeved D16 Aftermarket sleeves are great - if you push over 400whp, or want a 79mm bore. Otherwise its a waste.
arp head studs
new water pump, oil pump, etc OEM please
honda oem gaskets
As far as the head goes:
possibly ss valves but maybe stock ones w. 3 angle A good valve job with a lower redline > plain ss valves + high revs
supertech springs w/ retainers Only if you get the cam
Comp Cams 105-100 cam (street cam)
new lifters, seals, bronze guides Replace the lifters only if they're cracked or missing
The tranny:
Tranny:
ACT2100 HD-00 clutch heavy duty pressure plate with street disc
Fidanza Flywheel 191161 8lbs
Ex or Si tranny!!! Si tranny because it has a LSD OEM LSD's aren't the best over 250whp, based on the statistics
If you go with sleeves, you might as well just put forged pistsons/rods in a B18C1, spend the money you saved on a better turbo, and have a much better motor & transmission. The t25 you'll find to be way too small. The limit on t25's is usually less than a bone stock sohc vtec motor can handle. I'd suggest a 60-trim T3, .48 AR exhaust, stage1 wheel if you can get it. It will spool quick, flow good on top, and maxing around 300whp.
BTW the FI forum is much more receptive to D16's; this forum usually thinks they're gay or can't make over 100whp.

thanks for the advice. I was thinking about going with a 9.5:1 piston, stock bore, ball hone, and block gaurd. Then swap a y8 head on it that will make almost a 10.1 compression. Later down the road, boost it but staying under 10psi
