Sounds like an ignition problem (dizzy cap and rotor, wires, plugs)
Did the problem start right when you replaced the distributor?

it means you put the wires in the wrong spots

this happen before i replaced the cap, rotor, and the plugs, not after! it is still causing the affect of misfiring after cap, rotor, and the plugs were replaced. the firing order is where it needs to be, the wires are plugged in snugged and in the right place!

pull the plugs and either post pics or a good discription of what they look like.
and if it sounds like a wrx i wouldn't be worried. they do not misfire stock in normal condition and sound great so idk wtf your talking about there.
but like everyone else said, check and make sure the plugs are in the right order. if they are, mess with your timing a little. i'd start by retarding it a little bit..could help.

long shot, but flip your distributor 180*. I doubt the car would have started if it was out of whack that way, but I helped a buddy of mine replace his and that's what his problem was

not possible, theres only one way it can be mounted to the camshaft.

Tell that to my friend who's distributor I helped replace.
My EM1 has a one way distributor and so does my 94EX, but this EG had one that went on two ways.

BULLSHIT. theres only one way it can go, not only because of the dizzy, but because of the camshaft. take a pic, that will prove it, other than that, you are wrong, or mistaken atleast.

Call bullshit all you want. I'm not crazy. We swapped out his distributor, tried to fire the car up and nothing. Not even the slightest attempt at trying to fire off. We called up his buddy in Cali and he said that we probably had the distributor 180* out of whack and to flip it. Did that, and sure as ****, the car fired right up. This was over a year ago, so pics aren't possible. Call BS all you want. This is what happened.
