I have a civic 99 ex

when i idle and have the A/C on, the rpms kind of rev up and down by themselves.
it's okay for a second when i gas it

does anyone know how to fix this? do i need to add more freeon or something?

freon has something to do with your engine ?... odd..

just replace some of your grounds, esp the alt and any grounds on the ac system

If there's too little or too much refrigerant in the system the A/C compressor will kick on and off. Too much causes the system to overload and shut itself off and too little gives the system nothing to compress. It's somewhat normal for your idle to jump a little when your A/C kicks on and off.

How fast do the cycles occur? If it's a patterned on and off, it's probably a lack of refrigerant. Let me know.

well, it'll rev from 1000 to 1500 rpm when i idle. and yes, my engine makes this...
"trying to compress something" noise when the A/C is on.

i think it might be lack of refrigerant; i don't think i had a checked since i got the car. (1999, 80,000 miles)

unless Honda will check it during the major tune up?

how do i add more refrigerant? can I do it myself?

you can do it yourself they make kits to fill ur a/c system you buy th **** at like autozone and its about $35 you connect it to the low side connector (the one with the blue cap under your hood) and there is a gauge on the hose and it tells you in the instructions what color on the gauge to stop at... i used to work at AZ and do that in the parking lot for people on my luch break its cake

it is the IACV. it is most likely dirty. Try cleaning it.

Walmart has that **** for like $20... Just check it out and make sure you get a kit with a gauge.
