i bought this hood from this guy for 75 bukks. fitment is good and everything except that the hood looks like this.
any idea what could i do to get it looking like carbon fiber again.
me n my cuzzin decided to wet sand it with 1200 grit and then wit 1500 and we recleared it wit 1 layer of clear coat to see how it came out. looks like we need more clear. it came out pretty good looking to me tho.

To fix this problem here is what you do.
Wet sand the hood with some 1000 grit paper....then move on to some 1200.
The clearcoat the hood with 2 to 4 good coats of clear.........It will look brand new.

wetsand with 1200 then switch to 2000. then buff it out,use alot of water and go light with the sandpaper let it dry with the 1200 and take out any scratches with the 2000.make sure there is no deep scratches beafore you buff it.and go lightly with the sand paper.

the best solution for this is to sand it down, and have it re-cleared with a UV protectant mixed in, if you don't your weave will star t fading pretty quick.
trust me i know from experience
i threw a CF hood in the trash cause it got so bad you couldn't see the weave anymore. the painter at my shop took it out and fixed it for me. it looked better than new after that, but the weave s a little disclored from the sun

Paint it. No one wants to see weaves of carbon strands beneath a fiberglass hardener. It looks tacky anyway. If you want a reccomendation on what primer to use, PM me.

^^^^^ he doesnt want to paint it,, he asked how to get it nice looking again. painting carbon is not good sometimes cause the epoxy coating isnt always smooth, kinda see waves sometimes when u paint cf in the finish.
But the idea is cool
