Trying to get under the car to change the oil today was a chore. I had to get the factory jack to lift it up so I could get my floor jack to clear the side skirts. And of course, doing this in my garage, it's pissing my mom off because every time the jack hits the side skirt when I try to position it, the alarm chirps. Every few pumps of the jack, the alarm chirps again.

Can anyone suggest good, affordable adjustable coilovers for a '92-'95 Civic Si? I saw an ad in the back of an issue for Ground Control adjustable coilovers and it said "Starting at $300." Do they make a good product? I really really want a set of the Tein coilovers where you can electronically adjust it from the little device you put inside of the car but those are $$$. The more affordable, the better. That way I can get them quicker in case I need to get under my car anytime soon

Come on now, with 1550 posts you should've seen the 546,598,545,239,586 posts about coilovers in the EG+ Forum. Ground Control and Skunk2 are what you're looking for if you are going affordable. Even the OmniPower ones SEEM good since they are $600 for a full threaded coilover.

Well we bought the jack to use on all of our cars. I thought it would be able to clear the skirts.

Drive your car on some 2x4's. that should lift it high enough to get the jack under.

Or stack smaller pieces of wood to make an incline. Sometimes the aluminum racing jacks aren't short enough.

There should be a valet mode for your alarm, check the manual. You wouldnt want to have to take it to a shop and the alarm going off on them every 2 minutes would you? Skunk2's are good and affordable.

This works, try it... if it's not high enough get some thicker boards or make a pseudo ramp out of like two or three 2x4's (screw, bolt, or otherwise attach them together for safety's sake)

If you're looking for a cheap coilover and not a way to get the car jacked up, honestly look into Arospeed coils. BauleyCivic has them and has been quite happy with them for some time now.

i also have arospeed ones for my car. I have had them on two different civics since 01 and have had no problems, and it is actually a nice ride.

Thanks for the suggestion I'm not going to be laying down track times, so I don't see a point in spending $800 on suspension right now. This car is my daily driver and I need a set up that's softer than my current springs (feel every damn bump in the road) but also improve handling a bit.

why not just drive the car up onto a set of small ramps (I use 2x4's that are staggered like steps) and then jack the car up?

you sound lazy. turn the alarm off. put the key in the ignition but dont start the car. or leave the door not totally shut but left open. it wont arm. i always have to use the stock jack to lift my car up a lil to get it cleared. i dont think its THAT big of a hassle. i mean you dropped the car. it makes sense. the 2x4 is a good idea. or dont do it in the garage, try your driveway. i do mine in a complex parking lot.

i've had to do this on all my lowered cars... small price to pay for a slammed car

just stick your factory jack under there, and jack it up alil,
get the big jack under and do the rest,
it is not hard at all.

definetely not something to warrant changing your freakin suspension.

but anyways, the omni power stuff looks cool,
i'd definetely try it out next.
they make a coilover sleeve along with their full coilover setup,
which also looks like a nice well build product.
price is just fine also.
much cheaper than groundcontrol(personally i'd never buy a set of ground controls,
300 is too ******* much).
