Default my car is starting by itself

have a 97 4 door civic, unplugged ecu and took key out of ignition, i put the battery cables back on and it tries to crank itself.the only thing i have found is that if i unplug the driver side motor harness plug it will kill. any help guys? thanks

Wow thats the weirdest ******* thing i have ever heard. The ecu is unplugged, and no key in the ignition and its still trying to crank? o_0 Free bump man.

short somewhere...your car will crank all day without the ecu because the ing. goes directly to the starter in which only needs + and - to work...if your car fires up without the ecu i would first call you a liar and then say your car is possesed!

I haven't heard of that ever happening before, but I know there was a service bulletin about the engine harness, look under the intake manifold (where the intake manifold bracket is) they had a problem with the harness rubbing the backet. Look for any broken wire or anything..

hey.that **** happen to me too..well kinda. with my first hatch i bought..it was a *** up eg. it was raining hardcore here in socal for a few days last year and this one time at night around 2 or 3am my stereo went on!! (i had 12 in the hatch) n it was loud *** ***. it was hitting hard. my whole family woke up. i ran outside in the rain to see wtf was going on. i was freaken out b/c the keys were in my room and the doors was lock. seriously. put it on anything. i guess the water had to do something with it b/c it happen 3 more times.

Is it actually starting and running or just cranking? If its just cranking, the starter motor has a problem or something is bridging the connections on the starter.

the midget ran out of my shop and we couldnt catch him and the car is just cranking not starting. the bridge thing we thought about but we are thinking bout just rolling the car in the ocean
