So i have a ej1 with a b20 swap. sorry this might be a noob question. but yaa.

not sure what i need to replace in order for it to not shake any longer. it shakes when i turn in on and its on idle. then it shakes alot more when im at high speeds.

could it be the engine mounts? dont know much about swaps. but yaa. could really use some help. thanks!

my ef had a bad axel and it did the same. soo check that out.. thats all i got ha sorry.

yaaa i heard it might be an axle problem. i'll see if i get it checked.

check your motor mounts put in in first and reverse and rev the motor up while power braking it, have someone look at the motor and see if it jerks if its jerking rough then you have busted mounts, if its smooth moving back and forth they are most likely good

Thanks! i was guessing it was the mounts, havent checked. but figured it was that. any known mounts i can buy that are known to be good ones?

does it click when you turn or does it just shake?
minor chance could be your wheel bearing or something with thee suspension
my da used too do that it ended up being my bearing

no sir, it doesnt click. its just really shaky, my brother in law has an ek with a b16a, and does the same thing, so im assuming its common with swaps?

i guess you never had a civic with a swap lol a lot of them shake while idling

and to make sure since its a b20 swap what ecu do you have? and check your axles just cuz theyre not clicking doesnt mean theyre not bad. and the shaking at high speeds, do any of your wheels have dents? bubbles in the tire? anything like that? hows your alignment? put the car up on jack stands and shake to front tires if theres play it could be your ball joints, it could be anything

well i had a hatch with a d15 japan engine swap, but obviously this is a bigger engine. anywho, here is my question, is there anyway for my car to still have the swap and be quiet as if it were stock? or will it always be loud and shaky because thats how these are with swaps?

I had a B16A2 swap in a 95 coupe. Shook slightly but that was because it had a bad rear mount. Fixed that and it was quiet and never shook. Even after I rebuilt and boosted it.

Sucks to say, but pretty much what everyone posted above is correct. Start with the easy small things like the mounts and axles, then work your way up. Shaking could mean firing issues, timing or just off balance rotational mass. If it's shaking at idle when the tires aren't moving, I'd saying it's most likely mounts. As I said, there are other issues that would cause that as well. You also said it shakes worse at higher speeds? Is it an RPM point or just a certain speed? example: say in 2nd gear you do 60mph at 7k rpm but you can still do 60mph in 5th at like 2.5k. Is it the speed causing the shakes or the rpm's? If it's the speed, then you have rotational mass issues. If it's the RPM, it's motor related. The speed portion wouldn't be related to your idle shaking though. So you would have another issue in conjunction with that one.

with my b20 it was a injector wire that came loose and was causing the motor to shake. I don't know if that helps.

When you start the car the motor start to shake slowly or rapidly? It not normal for motor to start to shake..

Double check if you have the right axle's for the trans, and see if they are all the way in. On my old eg, the axle used to pop out and make the car shake real bad; then I figured out that autozone sold me the wrong axle.

okay. well its more of the interior skaking. like the whole dash shakes loudly, then wen i drive at high speed. i can here things in the rear shaking.

sorry to sound like a noob,

i just wanna know how to make it calm, as if it were stock. or if thats even possible.

You said that it shakes when its idling makes me think that its more likely to be your mounts, assuming that you're talking about the car not moving. However, if it only does it while it is moving and the vibration seems to get faster with the speed of travel, I would definitely look at your axles/wheels/rotors.

However if it shakes even if you're not moving I would check your mounts first. usually i would think that as long as the rear mount is good you should be fine unless your others are completely shot (which you could tell by looking at side mounts).

I had a problem like this in by B20 DC4, and turned out that the t-bracket in the rear was loose. An easy way to find out if the mounts are bad too is to (while its cold of course) get a good two handed grip on the valve cover and try to shake it back and forth. (it shouldn't move more then a quarter to half inch, if at all)

take a video of it running, if its missfiring it shakes real bad, could need a tune up, if not my guess is motor mounts, mine did that i just did the 3m window weld solid mounts and it feels great now

Might need an engine balance also.... I have a b16a2 swap in my 96 hatch. It vibrates more than "shakes". I checked everything over and it's solid. But from what I've read an engine balance will help with vibration. Food for thought.
