Re: My eg coupe doesnt have an oil catch can??? (jdmvtecej2)
why would you need one? your oiling system should be a closed system as it is. got a plug on the bottom to drain it and a cap on top to fill it. in the mean time the oil doesnt leave your block unless if your running a turbo

ppl put them on aftermarket b/c they blow oil out of their valve cover where the breather is... i just ran a hose on it to the ground. i think its just so u dont blow oil on ur motor... i didint think they came stock but i may be wrong

You sure you're not thinking of the charcoal canister? That looks similar to a oil catch can, but serves a completely different purpose.

piston rings arent 100% round, and solid
gas/vapors blow through the gaps., and create postive pressure in the oil pan. without some way to release that presure...... your oil pan seal, or rings/ something has to give. and itll create a leak.
honda uses a closed loop system meaning they just through it back into the intake tract, to burn it.
great fr emissons not great for performance,
some add more, clean out the valve cover, use AN fittings, braze/gtaw female fittings on to them so they are removable.
have fun
so what these kids are doing is removing the charcoal cansiter, and intake feed lines, making/modifying plugs, to introduce it into a cansiter like device with a filter and drain on the bottom.
filter lets vapors out (breather) drain lets blown out oil, and soot out.
