my buy of the year
Well a couple of days ago, last friday to be exact, i was at work (autozone) and was feeling kinda bummed out that i destroyed my gs-r y1 tranny, the differential side gears snapped peices off some how and took casting off the transmission with it, it was ruined... it had already been down for a good month or so and costs of a new tranny were needless to say...beyond what i had at the time cause of going to school and paying for all the other stupid **** i have.
anyway a guy i work with came up to me and was like "know anybody who wants to buy a b16 tranny ? i have it in my car" well he drives a 90 ls so i was thinking he meant a cable tranny from like 88-91 or something i didnt know what to think so i decided to take a look anyway.
well we get out to the car and i look and sure enough its actually a hydraulic and still has the shift linkage, all checked out till i noticed something..the tranny code wasant b16.. it was S4C.. and i looked puzzled at him and said "kris, this isint a b16 tranny, this is a type r tranny." he claimed it was from a friend who didnt need it anymore cause the guy sold his swap but kept the tranny to trade for some really rare rims but the deal fell through so kris just happened to be trying to sell it for him. it sounded legit and i knew the guy who was selling it.
i looked at him and said "ill give u 100$ for this tranny right now" he said fug it. its yours just give me another 50$ next week. i picked the tranny up from work that day, stayed up all night putting it in, broke the driver side axle, bought a new 1 the next morning and had the car running that night (sat) after being up for the better half of 28 hrs working and putting the tranny in and checking/double checking.
so im here now after driving it for a while, 150$ later and a type r tranny under the bonnet and its the smoothest thing i have ever shifted. i cant wait to get my ats 4.9 and fidanza 7pnd in the next couple of months here. just thought id share.
Car is:
1994 B16a, Type r usdm S4C w/Optional LSD, skunk2 megapower exhaust, ported 5"inches back intake manifold, hondata IM gasket, dc 4-1.

I know that kind of feeling where you start to realize everything works out in the end. Yes this is a Tech thread but damn, be happy for him. You would prly post this in here if this happened to you. But good find otherwise.
