Default My b16a2 all motor build!!

I'm just writing today to see what kind of input i could get on my build. I have a 1993 cx hatch with a b16a2 swap. I recently put a lot of money into my motor, really just the top end cause i plan on getting a b18 bottom end, and would like to see what you guys think.

parts list
skunk2 titanium retainers
skunk2 dual valve springs
stainless steel ferrera valves
bronze guides
new valve steam seals
3 angle valve job
skunk2 pro 2 cams
arp head bolts
skunk2 fuel rail
skunk2 intake manifold
skunk2 pro 68mm throttle body(i plan to port match it w/ intake manifold)
milled the head just for flat surface
rc sl4 370cc injectors
255 lph fuel pump
nippon racing pistons
king bearings
b16 bottom end for now
4-1 header no cat 2.5" exhaust
intake
buddy club adj cam gears
blox fuel pressure reg.
b&m fuel pressure guage

and i already had a lightweight flywheel and clutch. i plan on taking it to mainstream motorsports in georgia to get it tuned. it has a chrome base tune now to run the b16a2 on my obd1 ecu. Like i said i plan on getting a b18 bottom end in feb and im just trying to see what kind of power people would think i will get. Thanks for your input!!

A lot of money to go slow. You should know what kind of power you are going to make before you start buying parts. Otherwise you're just spending money on parts with your fingers crossed at the tuners.

Yeah well i wanted my b18 bottom end before i was done but i ran out of money for now so i am going with the b16 bottom end. i wanted atleast 200hp but now im unsure of where i am and what the car will run like. as far as money goes i only want the best parts and i don't want to cut corner

200bhp or 200whp? 200whp in a b16 would actually cost more money than with a b18a/b/c bottom end.

i wanted ATLEAST 200whp when i was planning it but i wasn't able to get a b18 bottom end. now im putting it together like this until feb when i buy and build a b18 bottom end.
im just wanting to see what people thing it will run like since i can be a b18 w/ b16 head. i looked in a lot of forms and never found a set up like this.

You've got a great start to your whp goal; minus the b16 block of course. If I were you I would build the, so called, 1.9L stroker. Which is a GSR block with LS rods and crank, and b16 pistons. A buddy of mine did this build several years back and he dynoed in at 233whp on ethanol.

What for transmission to plan to use? b16 I imagine?

Nice see thats what am talking about, i have been looking into the fact i can get by with making pretty good power even though i have the b16 block cause i could rev it high with the pro 2's. i have a b16 tranny that i will use for now

You're only running a B16. After around 8k, it'll just be blowing hot air and not making any more power.

how you figure that, you have ran this setup before??? what i have read says otherwise. it should make the most power up high.

Feel free to look up as many dinos as you'd like from B16A2 builds. After ~8k torque starts dropping, and after ~8500-9k, whp drops.

Also, yes, the stock rev limiter is set to 8400, but look at the stock power curves. 7600 for bhp, 7k for torque. Are you looking at your gearing at all? Contemplating custom gear ratios and power band locations? They don't worry about where you make power to - cap your RPM at 8500-9k and leave it at that.

No i haven't thought of that. I really wanted a gsr bottom end but it didn't work out at this time but i will get it soon. After that i plan to boost it so i will more than likely build the bottom end for boost
Good twin scroll turbo kit w/
70 trim would be nice.

If you're gonna go a b18 block why not get a b20 block instead. You'll easily make 200whp! and if you really wanted power!, with a b20.........go a higher compression ratio and with your stage 2 cams will put out enough N/A. with a good tune i'll say 13s easily.

Some of us still have respect for the federal law. A B20 swap is illegal.

seems to me that the b20 makes good power for sure but its more mid range and i really enjoy revving high thats why i want the b18. nice displacement but still makes power up top.

on the flip side i will be going to finish up the work next week and im wondering am i going to be able to drive itback down to GA so i can get it tuned. i have chrome on my obd1 ecu so i could run the b16 in my car. i plan on claying the motor and checking the v2v clearances. what does everyone think about running it before the tune????

Sorry I am new to this, but what makes a b20 swap illegal exactly?

Because jbpnoman is the worst guy ever and will tell on you and make annoying Honda Tech posts. It's only illegal depending on your state laws since the engine is from a SUV. Common sense would say that in most places, you can be 99.99% sure the cops really won't care.

In CA it is definitely an illegal swap and no one from H-T has to tell on you for you to get busted trying to run one. Nashville could probably care less.

But if we're all of a sudden talking boost then I don't see how this is an all-motor build. Actually there isn't the first sign that a build happening here yet.

:sigh:.....I know he wasn't really going to tell on anyone. His posts were baseless. That's what I was exposing. I'd love to see a cop in NE Ohio go "son, is that a B20 you have swapped in your civic? That's illegal in CA...and possibly this state because it's from a late 90s to early 2000s model Honda CR-V. A guy named jbpnoman told me it was a federal offense. The sentence is death."

Sorry for all of my n00bness and thread jacking but how much of a benefit is there in going with a B20 instead of a B18 lower end?

I'm thinking of doing a budget build "LS Vtec" (I apologize if i'm off the mark on the terminology) and dropping it into an EG hatch. (Again, I apologize if this is overdone but I'm looking for something inexpensive and fun to do at my convenience)
