my air intake is too loud!!
I just got a crappy short ram intake off ebay to see if it will help with MPG since I comute almost 100 miles a day. my question is is there any way to make it quiter, the growl sounds great but might be a little loud for all the driving I do.
by the way my engine and exhaust is stock and the kit came with a washable cone filter.

I've got the short ram and it's great. Sounds cool when you want people to think you have more under your hood than a naked D-series. I've got stock exhaust and headers but i/m/o it's only loud when U give give it more than 3/4 pedal

no. it is making that noise because the stock system is out. the stock system, while restrictive has been "tuned" to be quiet. there is/are resonating chamber/s. the filter is contained in a box that is made out of plastic(plastic keeps the sound in too). on a short ram or hot air system the filter is wide open, so all the "noise" gets "out".

Re: (professor poon)
i think you need to learn how to GRADUALLY press on the gas.
the first thing people do when they get an intake is rip through the gears to hear it roar.
on my car everyday driving you couldnt even hear the intake
