I'm thinking that it might be the AC bearing, but if it is, do I have to replace the whole compressor or could I just have it fixed? I'd like to have this fixed as cheap as possible so if anyone knows, help is greatly appreciated. And no, I'm not going to remove AC cause it's the one luxury I just can't relinquish

i know this isnt what you want to hear, but just strip out the entire AC unit, thats what any true die hard racer woud do. who needs AC anyway...my mom has AC...

If you hear the whirring sound in the inside compartment by the glove box, then its your blower motor. Its probably the bearing that are about to go.

is it inside of your car or by the engine? inside of car means blower motor. if by engine then 2 posibilities, if it only happens when a/c is off then its the comp bearing, if it happens when a/c is on then its an internal problem with the comp.

Well, unfortunately I'm not a die-hard racer. I drive the thing daily and get caught in rush hour traffic under the blazing hot sun. And since I'm not racing in rush hour traffic, I really appreciate the AC. I do have plans on making it the little weekend racer though, but in the distant future.

Anyways, I had to cut the belt that drives the compressor because of the noise. I also remember spinning the pulley by hand and it made noise so I'm pretty sure it's the pulley bearing, but I'm open to any corrections. So how would I be able to get rid of this problem?

Well my a/c was making the same kinda noise for a couple of weeks but it eventually just stopped on its own. I'm sure I need to get it checked sometime soon though
