My 99 Si acting funny
Before when i use to punch it and redline the gears, after redlining, i would slam it
into the next gear, and the rpms would just drop, and car would still pull forward hard as ever.
Now, when i slam the gear into the next gear, rpms stay there for couple of seconds car goes no where, and than they drop, and than car moves moves forward.
What's the cause of this semptiom <- (sp)

And you thought this was good for your car?

NO, but i don't do this on daily occasions, nor do i race every weekends. I push the car about once in two three months.

use 2nd gear to drive at 15-20mph and then shift to 5th gear and gas it, if the rpm needle raises quickly---bad clutch, if it doesnt and the car seems to have a bad time---clutch still ok.

Yeah i knew that, thanks for reminding me, will defenatly do that in the moring, but i really doubt that the rpms will shoot up in fifth at 20mph, because when i'm in traffic, and shift from first to fouth, than gas it the car bogs.

or you can go on the highway..and put it in 5th..and floor the car..if the car doesn't accelerate..but the rpm keeps rising..thats also a sign of bad clutch.

As a matter of fact, i did that today. If i punch the car in 5th at 70mph, the car screams and hauls ***.

Passed the test with flying colors.
I stomped it at 20mph, the rpms just sat there at 2,000 and very slowly climbing.

Re: (sshaikh01)
im having the same problem with my 99 civic si and i took it to my honda tech guy that does all the work on my car, and guess what, its the clutch. I have also noticed when i shift gears my car isn't normal, after i get my clutch and flywheel though, it should be back to normal.

Maybe my clutch is just begingin to show colors, because i don't scratch any gears, or miss any gears.
Could motor oil have play a role in this? because i noticed my car doesn't accelerate the same way with the new oil i'm currently using.

Re: (sshaikh01)
i doubt it, i don't think that oil would play a role in that, my clutch is weird now, sometimes it will shift fine and then other times it shifts hard and grabs hard, i have to sit and play with my clutch just to get it to go in reverse then i have to do the same to get it out, but all of the other gears arent like that, its probably your clutch, take it to a honda tech guy.

Re: (SIowner)
stop wondering what it is you idiot its yoru fukcing clutch
it wont shoot up the rpms from 2nd to 5th, and it wont shoot up when u punch itin 5th.... if that happens then your clutch is 120% gone... you can easily drive yours all day but when you shift hard, it will do what you said
