Default My 93 Civic needs an engine and...

I just got a 93 Civic DX auto and it has a hole in the side of the block. I'm not looking for anything fast, I actually bought this car cause it's slow. So, what engine blocks can I use to replace mine? And what year cars did they come in? I know this stuff is listed some places but I dont' know what a b16a, b16b, etc are so it isn't really helpful.
I'm looking for a direct or close to direct bolt on for my car. Obviously nothing that is going to cost a lot in extra parts.
And what is the stock engine code? It's a 1.5L sohc?

Easiest engine swap is a DOHC ZC. It's a direct bolt in with no modifications needed. Gives you a few more horsepower too.

You could probably have one bought and installed for about $1000.

He doesn't have all of the 1.5L D series engines, just one. Just writing down "d15b" isn't anywhere close to helpful because the only d15b is a japan only engine that puts out a little over 130hp and has vtec.

To the thread starter, your engine is a d15b7 (sohc, non-vtec). You can find another one for dirt cheap (literally), or spend an extra $50-100 and get a d16z6 which came in the ex and si. The only thing with this one is that you'll need the corresponding ecu (or get yours chipped to serve the same purpose) and will need to run an extra wire for the vtec solenoid. Even with getting the z6 and the ecu it'll still only be a couple hundred dollars in good condition.

EDIT: You're engine code is stamped on the left side of the block, facing towards the front of the car and angles up a bit.

</TD></TR></TABLE> what? i dont think i mentioned anything about him owning all the d series engines... i posted all these engine codes so he can have a btter understanding... he did say "I dont' know what a b16a, b16b, etc"

yes there is also the d15b that puts 130... similar to our d16z6...

I happen to have a D15B SOHC VTEC for sale in my garage. $500 with tranny, no ship.
I'm not trying to jack your thread, just offering a possible solution if you're ever up this way, stop out and pick it up .

I took this to mean one of two things:
1) D15B_ (doesn't make sense because you didn't even mention which engine you were speaking of)
2) D15B (which doesn't correspond with the "non-vtec" and "62-102hp" part)

I just found it odd that you posted so many engines that he specifically said he wasn't interested in (I'm looking for a direct or close to direct bolt on for my car.). And then the one part of your list that actually applied to what he was asking about gave unclear/wrong information. Sorry for the misunderstanding...

Awsome thanks for all the replies.

I can normally find core engines easier/cheaper than I can a good one so, would the head off my D15B7 bolt right to the block for a D16Z6? Having the extra cid would be nice cause I don't want the car to be a turd, just not very fast. Also how much hp does my stock engine make? Hopefully not 62hp. I'd like to have at least 100hp.

I'm not sure if the dowels are spaced differently between the b7 head and the z6 block (I'm more of B series guy). You're stock engine is rated at 102hp at the flywheel.
