Have you not noticed a susbstantial decrease in power?
A clogged cat will cause things to get red hot.
Maybe your timing (ignition/cam) is so far off that your tossing a still burning a/f charge into the exhaust manifold.
Have you done some recent modifications/maintenance work lately?
