Default Is my '00 Civic EX/Si running 'rich' on fuel?

I think my '00 Civic EX/Si is running a little 'richer' on fuel than it was before.

Could I have hit something, or adjusted something slightly while cleaning the engine bay that could make it waste more gas.

I used to get about 400 KMs per tank (not driving the car hard), and now I get about 360-370 per tank (not driving the car hard).

Or could it be just due to the fact that the winter is really cold up here in Canada, and the engine works just a little bit harder, and consumes more gas.

By the way, I use the same grade of fuel, 89-91 octane (depending on the price), same engine oil Mobil1 SuperSyn, and I had just replaced the OEM air filter.

Any help is appreciated.

No love from the EG+ Civic forums. Was this a stupid question or something?

Thanks for ALL of the glorious feedback - helping a brother out in a little bit of trouble.

Cold air is denser, thus requiring more fuel when burned. That might have something to do with it.

i'll try to help. first of all if you have a DOHC you should be using supreme in your car. well how are you getting the reading that you are running rich? autometer a/f guage? because those are not accurate. other than that i dont know what would cause it from just cleaning the engine bay.

I know about the DOHC and supreme fuel, but my EX/Si is and SOHC, Canadian model Si, U.S. EX. You don't necessarily 'have-to', but it is recommended.

I'll just have to wait until spring/summer to see if I had done something wrong, or the motor is acting up and consuming more fuel for the heck of it.
