That's funny...that is the VTEC motor...
I guess that answers your questions too. If you're just starting off, look into intake, header, exhaust. Maybe pulleys, etc. Might even look into other VTEC motor swaps. Have fun, good luck, search around the site for more info about future endeavors
BTW, IBTL

OK, now you're just a moron. You DO have the VTEC, SOHC motor for that bodystyle. If you don't know that, then you are dumb enough. Your questions have been answered, move on. Thanks for your time

EJ6 - Civic DX,LX, ETC: D16Y7 Non VTEC SOHC
EJ7 - Civic HX: D16Y5 VTEC-E SOHC

Older motors are being used in this thread, however it should help you. Also, Bauley is probably one of your greatest resources for this type of thing. PM him at will or do searches for his threads or things like: Mini-me. Should be everything you'll need.

Our Y7 version have 115 hp here, Y8 is 125, so its 10 hp difference in Taiwan. being raced a lot in Taiwan Internation Speedway stock class and Im telling ya either Y7 and Y8 makes NO difference in lap time.

Re: (sinister6)
why dont you go look @ the stamp on your block that tells your engine code and then you can look for the vtec solenoid right behind the dizzy. And if you are saying that your engine doesnt have vtec b/c you cant feel it kick in ,well you cant feel it on most single cams w/o some serious bolts ons.
