Multitude of ABS codes.
My ABS light has been on since I bought the vehicle. I have tested the functionality and when the light is on it does not work at all. However, occasionally the light will go off and the system will work somewhat, almost as if it's working on some wheels, it's very jerky unlike the rapid modulation of the pedal I am used to with other ABS systems. Anyway, today I pulled the codes and got a multitude of failures, I need some help deciphering these.
Could it be a single component causing these failures?
ECU? Master cylinder?
When I'm braking the pedal is firm and the brakes grip nicely, however when I'm at a stop I have to continually press the pedal further to stand still. There have been a few times I find myself rolling backwards on a hill with the brake pedal pushed down.
The brakes were bled before I bought the car and the fluid level is topped off and is at a consistent level, there are no signs of leaks.
One last thing, there were blink codes that didn't match anything listed.
3 Long 5 Short
3 Long 6 Short
3 Long 7 Short
Need some help.
- High pressure leakage
- Pressure switch
- High pressure system
- Pulser RF
- Pulser LF
- Pulser RR
- Right hand rear wheel lock
- Front fail safe relay

Re: Multitude of ABS codes.
This is done by pulling the fuse and cycling the key or removing the neg. battery terminal?
I think it might be an electrical issue. Driving to work this morning no light, revved the engine over 5k light comes on. The speedo also works intermittently and I am aware there is an issue with a wiring harness on the rear of the engine under the intake manifold.
Anyway, I'll try that and report back. I also pulled up the service manual I see you reference often for troubleshooting.
I'll reset the codes and report back.

Re: Multitude of ABS codes.
I figure I'd go ahead and update my progress.
Last night: Re-covered the wiring to the pump, and now the pump works. Cleared the codes and all was well ...
This morning: Drove to work and as I was pulling in, the ABS light came back on. This time with only 2 codes.
LF - Wheel sensor
Main relay stuck on
I followed the troubleshooting guide in the OEM manual and have determind the ABS control module is bad.
I'm going to try and find a replacement at the junkyard tomorrow. Once I get a good module in place I'll check that wheel sensor again, but, I'll snag one of they have one there.

Re: Multitude of ABS codes.
Update:
I got the "new" abs control module in and installed it. It then threw up a code for LF wheel sensor malfunction. I cleaned the contacts, then it threw up a code 5-2. I checked the fuse box and the 10a fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse, took it for a quick drive and the light remained off for a mile or so.
We'll see how long it lasts, I'm still curious as to why the fuse blew in the first place.

Maybe so, I just took a ride to Wal-mart, no light on. I didn't engage the system though. I'll try it tomorrow when the g/f isn't riding with me. It's been raining everyday here too, perfect opportunity to test it.
Do you think AutoZone will have the 40a fuse? Wal-mart just had the standard fuses.

Thanks man, I'm sure I'll be seeking your help in threads yet to come. I have a whole slew of issues to solve. The strangest is a 'surging' feel at 45-50mph in 5th. I only notice it at a constant high speed.
I took the 40a fuse from the heater blower motor, lol. Won't be needing that anytime soon.
