Default mugen style lip wont fit correctly....

i bought a mugen style lip off ebay and im having a fittment issue with the driver side...

here's a pix of the front of the car with the lip being hand held on...

here's some pix of the passenger side which fits pretty good...

here's some pix of the driver side where the fittment issue is...
for some reason, the lip seem to be about 1 inch short from reaching the end of the bumper...

this pix shows how it looks if you force the lip, notice how the lip is bent at the end and how it flares out...

here's a pix of how big the space and how short it is from the end of the bumper..

im looking for some ideas on how to make the driver side fit a little better...
i'm thinking about maybe cutting the part that curves in towards the end of the bumper off and just using bolts to put the rest in...
remember the inward part of the lip flares out badly and it looks like itll break off when i forced it on...
any ideas or comments are welcome...
thanks

unfortunatly you get what you pay for. My friend bought the same thing on ebay and it fits like crap. You could try a few different things like cut the ends off and mount it some other way or try a heat gun to bend both ends to fit. The first time the lip hits anything that ABS in gonna crack.

id say your best bet would be to take the lip off completey and shave off alittle material from the front corners on either side, this will allow the lip to be brought towards the rear of the car about a cm or so... good luck

I bought one off of ebay too. Fit perfectly and it was white plastic. I didnt even need to paint the lip cuz my cars already white. You sure they sent you the one for your car instead of a 96-00? Doesnt look like its for your year car.

i have a 98 civic, and i ordered the Civic Type R lips for front and back, what i did was in the rear, i actually had to use glue to make it so the lip fit flush, only on the side, about 3 or 4 inches, and the fronts fit prietty good, but what u can do is dremel the corner of the mugen lip so it can fit right on ur wheel well part and screw it in properly.. i thought Mugen was a decent brand that would fit? humm.. ABS is better then fiberglass.....

well it had a sticker on the inside that said 92-95 on it and the everything else fit pretty well, except for that little part by the drive side wheel well.

im probably going to force it on and use a lot of screws...
thanks guys

no wonder it doesn't fit, mugen "style". yea, it is true that most aftermarket parts do not fit such as body kits, z3 fenders, and in your case lips.

Hey
Yah, that's what you get for the price you pay.
I bought a ctr STYLE lip a while ago when i didn't have the money to pay for a front lip, but had the same problem.
I would just go for a CTR lip. It costs, but it's better than messing with your bumper in my opinion.
Good luck and I feel you. I bought it off Makoto something...forget the name. They were kind enough to come out and check it out, take pics, and never sell those parts again.
If I were you, I'd send them back and get your money back, save it for a real lip! It's worth it!!!!

Who did you buy it from on EBay? I recently purchased a Mugen Style front lip on EBay from Street Racing Concept. $100 with free shipping. Best deal I could find anywhere. I had purchased a Buddy Club style fiberglass front end made by GTP International. I don't want to bother having it painted and watch it fall apart from hitting pebbles on the freeway, so I'm getting a lip instead. I hope mine will fit. I'm getting it in a couple of days, so we'll see. Just curious who you bought yours from and what I have to look forward to...

You just have to mess with it really.

BTW, can you use a heatgun on these kind of lips? Wouldn't it warp the material (ABS plastic)? Or does it really help it fit better? I have a CTR "Style" ABS lip also, and the ends are kinda twisted. I just had someone hold it in place while I put in two screws on the sides. But I never thought of a heatgun...
