mud guards vs. splash guards

my question is this:

In terms of looks, what is the difference. I am asking this because I just ordered mud guards on Majestic Honda for 50 bucks. I later saw that they also offered splash guards. Anyone have pics that might detail what the difference may be. Thnx.

Mud guards keep crap from your tires from spraying all over the place.

Splash guards are plastic body panels mounted under your car to keep water and debris from splashing all over the engine compartment.

I'm not sure if this applies to Civics/Tegs, but some cars also use splash guards to help divert more air for cooling.
