Default AT to MT

I've got an offer to do a complete AT to MT conversion for about a grand with labor and parts. That sound fair? I have no clue, sounds good to me but what do I know?

IM quad-damage. he just got his done.. and i think he lives in CA
(search for his thread)
i think he paid around the same price, and it might be a good idea to go to the same shop where he went since they already successfully did it once.

hmmmm...

EX tranny=MAYBE $300
Shift linkages=$100 (prolly less at a junkyard)
Shifter assembly=$50 (ditto)
Clutch petal=$100 (ditto)
Clutch master & Lines, ETC=maybe $100 at a junkyard.

Save yourself alot of money and do it yourself. and you can prolly find an EX tranny for under $300.

tranny swap is easy. put a jack under it, pull the axles, unbolt flywheel, shift linkage, mount, and pull it off the motor, lower it, and put the new one one. easy.

Does the tranny have any garuntee on it? I.E. Milage warranty and/or grinding.

hey dont be a smartass. you don't know how much hands on experience he has on this.

i can do swaps, but i can't do "specialty" swaps, im taking my car to hybrid-racing in LA to get my swap, and i trust them to do it right.

maybe he just doesnt have time to do this, or proper tools. theres a lot less hassle going thru a shop.

did you get the whole shifter assembly, or just a short shifter and bushings?

did u get the hydro clutch hardlines? ECU? unless you know how to change your ECU from auto to manual, which i believe isnt all that hard, if you trust yourself enough.

piecing together a LS swap costs less or you can always get a EX swap for next to nothing. hell id even boost my car before spending $1000 just to have stick. but thats just me.
