Motor vibrating/squeaking sounds
I've noticed that a lot of Honda Civics have this problem, and I'm not really sure if it is a problem or not... when my Civic is idling, the motor makes a squeaking/vibrating noise. It seems to come from the flywheel. This seems to be normal, but is it indicative of a problem or does it mean that there is some routine maintenance that I need to do? Retension or replace belts? Adjust flywheel? Replace something? The sound is very slight but it is getting louder and louder and it's making me nervous. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Re: Motor vibrating/squeaking sounds (allmtr)
Does it go away once you start driving? Or is it constant? Does it become more noticeable when you shift? Just some questions to for more insight.

Sounds like a throw out bearing! $20 part 3 hours of R&I, Yes it is common and yes it does suck to hear that all day squeeks suck

Re: Motor vibrating/squeaking sounds (ill phil)
It's constant. I think it's a worn out belt. After how many miles should belts be replaced? It gets worse whenever I do something that requires electricity... I was messing around and noticed that it gets worse when I turn my headlights on. That suggests to me that it's the alternator belt. It's also becoming more and more difficult to cold start. That would also suggest the alternator belt. Are those difficult to replace? Oh, it also seems to get worse when I turn... so it could also be power steering. What do you guys think? I don't think it's a loose motor mount or bearing...
