zc I think has a cable tranny. You might need a conversion or something. Keep asking around.

There are a lot of ZC engines.

The one you got sounds to be the 88-91 non-VTEC SOHC ZC that is a really nice engine. It is comparable to the 88-91 USDM D16A6, but it makes 10 more crank hp. The SOHC non-VTEC ZC makes 118hp at the crank according to Honda.

You can drop this engine into your VX, but it will take a few changes in wiring because it's set up for the pre-OBD 88-91 Civic more so than the OBD1 92-95 Civics.

I'll try to get all of the basics down for you.

1. You'll need a 92-95 Civic CX/DX distributor. The VX one won't work because it's for VTEC and the ears won't match up to the ZC head.

2. You'll need to either run your VX engine harness and wire in a 4-wire 02 sensor, or find a 92-95 DX harness to make it almost plug and play. The VX uses a fucked-up 5-wire o2 sensor that only works with the VX engine and ECU. Also the VX harness has some bullshit EGR **** too.

3. You will need a 92-95 P06 DX 5-speed ECU. Combine this with the 92-95 engine harness and distributor and it will be nearly plug and play.

4. The ZC will in FACT bolt up to your VX tranny, but the VX tranny is the shittiest tranny Honda ever made. The gears are super tall for mpg, so they suck ***** for acceleration. You really want a 92-95 Si HB or EX coupe 5-speed tranny. They have shorter gears and a much closer/better final drive. At least get a DX tranny. The CX tranny is the same ****-gearing as your VX one, so stay away from it.

5. I'm pretty sure the alternator from the ZC will plug in, but if in doubt simply use the VX one.

6. I believe you will be best off finding a 92-95 DX or Si/EX intake manifold because the ZC will have some differences because it's pre-OBD. This is not a must but it maks it easier, and the Si/EX IM are nice pieces.

7. I'm also sure you'll need the 92-95 DX or Si/EX fuel rail and injectors since the pre-OBD stuff doesn't match up. I don't think the B-Series fuel rail will bolt up to the D manifold.

8. For engine mounts you will simply need to use your VX ones.

That's the basics. If you have any more Qs I'll try to help as best as I can.
