Motor swap ?
Hey guys, i own a 1994 Honda Civic EX with the basic D16Z6 SOHC VTEC 5-speed. As of now its blown (cracked block), sadly. Im Tired of the single cam D-series. Ive been looking forward in doin a swap.
Im new in motor swappin. I was told that the LS motor & trans with original mounts, shift links, wiring, CV axles, etc and would just slide in in my civic with no problems or hassel.
The only thing that i would need to buy is an ecu conversion, i believe.
If anyone could just correct me if im wrong on this, but would this be true or not? What is all of the requirements and basically what i would need to make this an accomplishment.
I would really appreciate it guys.
thanks
Mike

Re: Motor swap ?
Basically any B series is a straight fit into a civic. If everything is OBD1 they you won't have to change anything, everything including the ECU will work just fine.

Re: Motor swap ?
I do have obd1, but LS does not have vtec. How would that work out then if some of the components (wiring and sensors) that i have for my d16 does not have for the b18b1?
what about the axles, shift links, and motor mounts that came for the ls? would they fit in the original area that it came in?

Re: Motor swap ?
So long as your swap came out of a '94 - '95 Integra everything is plug and play. You will need a combination of civic and integra mounts, integra axles, shift linkage, ECU etc. You can also use a '96 - '01 Engine and transmission (get the integra harness with it!) and use an OBD1 P75 or PR4 ECU. And finally you can use a '92 - '93 Engine and then find a hydro tranny from a newer integra.
Heres a very helpful diagram of what mounts need to come from what:

An obd 1 ls swap is a bolt in swap for your car use 94-01 integra axels, shift links, mount brackets(the rubber mounts are the same)and the obd1 Integra Ecu or chip the p28 that your car has now, and you can use an obd1 integra harness or the civic one just leave the vtec plugs hang.

Re: Motor swap ?
very easy u can just use ur stock harness and itll plug n play if u have a obd 1 ls.. everything will fit fine.. the b series mount will drop in fine.. and about the ecu just go get a ob1 ls ecu.. the vtec line dont matter if wont effect the car cause teh ls doesnt have vtec and ur not even gonna plug in the 2 vtec wires

Re: Motor swap ?
dont try ls vtec just yet. its a very complicated build for someone new to motors and there is alot that has to be done. just do the ls swap for now until you become more comfortable with b series and swaps. goodluck
