Is it possible to do a motor swap in a 2001 civic? I've been told that it hasn't been done yet. If it is possible to do a motor swap in a 2001 civic, what motor would be better b16a or b18c?

whats up everyone. i was thinking, how long will it take for someone to attempt a new RSX plant into a 2001 civic. it seems more than possible. i'd just like to see who does it first.

Actually.. it depends on wich civic.. The new coupes and as far as i know the four doors, at least the cars i was looking at at the dealership- are still using the same d-series set up and have the engine on the drivers side and the tranny on the passanger side. I was told that the Si and the RSX will have the new setup, wich will have the motor on the passanger side and will spin clockwise (unlike our curent engines counter clockwise)
i am guessing that you can still swap integra motos into the new coupes because of this- but im not sure.

ummmm.......... HELLO u can't swap any old motors in to the NEW civic!! the new motors spin clockwise!! the old ones spin counterclockwise!! u maybe able to swap an RSX motor in but i am not sure. but no can do on the old motors PLUS there is no room for the older engines b/c the engine bay is WAY SMALLER!! ok NO OLD ENGINES IN THE NEW HONDAS!! BOTTOM LINE!! unless someone knows something i don't??

let me get this straight...if the new engines spin one way, and the old engines spin the other way, and you put a old engine into a new car, then wouldn't you be able to go backwards really fast.....lol

the new civics (at least the ex, dx... etc) are the same as the old ones... motor/tranny sit the same and spin the same...

I was only curious about swapping engines. And I had a few questions about it, because I really don't have anyone around me to talk to about car stuff. I'm not doing it because 'it's cool' or because 'real racers do it'. Thats not what matters to me right now.
I'm totally stoked to have A Brand New Car
And at this point in time I can't really afford to do anything to my car.... Not like it matters because as of today they only make performance parts for ex's, and mine's only a dx. So for now, I'm just enjoying my NEW car; driving it around, here and there... breaking in the engine.
