Default Motor Shaking?

Heres the deal, my motor seems to be vibrating, its a d16z6. and my car idles at about 500-600. when reved up to 1000 the shaking stops. so what could be the problem? is it the fuel filter? air filter? i tried adjusting the idle speed but everytime i do that the idle return to normal it wont change. what could be the problem? i did compression test and its good across all 4 cylinder. any help is appreciated.

I think I know what you're talking about...

If you motor and steering wheel (or any other parts for that matter) are vibrating like crazy, id say its the motor mounts that need to be replaced.

How many miles are on that car and/or motor?

hmm...i have the same problem. just at random times my motor just starts idling at like 500~600. u know what u could try. when it starts to do that. just pull ur e-brake up and just wait the idle should just bump right up to the proper range. if it does then ur iacv might b kinda sticking. Gl with that.

My cx had the same problem. It bugged me but it wasn't serious. I found putting the stock intake back on fixed it.

It definitely sounds like the motor mounts.

However, from what everyone else is claiming...it sounds like you're talking about different problems.

well the steering wheel doesnt shake. its just the motor vibrates a little and the idle drops from like 800-1000 to 500-600. thats pretty much the problem. like after 30 seconds when the cars warmed up the idle would just go down and things start to vibrate and the exhaust begins to rattle. I have a manual that says i should check my fuel filter and get a new one but is that the only problem it could be i want to solve everything at once so i dont waste time.

a car will idle little higher until it warms up then drop a little in rpm's, the ratteling on the exhaust could be the heat shield or a rusted and broken clamp, as for the shaking i would say just change your fuel filter because they are not that much, but it also could be your motor mounts, my buddy had the same problem and he changed his mounts and that fixed his problem...

i have this problem. at times, my steering wheel and seats will be like a vibrator only when i'm in gear (i have an auto). when i'm in park or neutral the vibrations are virtually gone. where can you find new motor mounts at and are they easily replaced? i have 89k on the car.

Ok, lets get one thing straight. Your car is supposed to idle around 500 rpm when warm. If your engine is vibrating a little and your exhaust rattles, but nothing inside the car, then there is nothing wrong with your engine or your mounts. Its going to vibrate b/c there is nothing countering it. When you engine is spinning faster rpms, the weight counters itself and it evens out, still vibrates, not nearly as bad. And your exhaust is rattling b/c of either a loose heat sheild or a rusted/bad hanger. Just leave it alone and drive it.

sounds good to me hahaha. if your right then maybe im just being paranoid. i think the exhaust rattles cause ders a rock in the muffler. it wasnt always like that, one day after school started the car and it rattled. cars off and u tap the exhaust it sounds like somethings inside.

just go threw all of your vacuum hoses on your manifold. Make sure they are secure and connected. Then maybe have someone use a vacuum leak tester on you car for you. Or replace all the hoses! Its a thought!

i hope u replaced the water pump and timing belt at 105,000. Does your car seem to idle fine then when it gets warm does it shake? i know my civic hasnt reached 105,000 yet, but i hear its about 400 at a local shop. Unless you can pull your own motor and change it out your self. that would be fairly cheaper. but if anything ***** up it boils down to u.

its more of a motor related issue as it has to due with th rpm drop.

Mine does this as well (well stuff doesnt shake) but the rpms will drop to about 5-600. Sometimes it goes almost right to the bottom on the tach. Just out of no where. But it always jumps back up.

If the rattling is that bothering take a look at ur mounts. if they arent bad try those motor mount inserts.
