Motor serial numbers

Motor serial numbers
I know 96+ trannies have vin tags on them...but what about the motors? Do they just have a serial number and if so...how do i trace the serial number by the vin tag?

motor serial numbers are not traceable today, there was a user that set up a system on a diffrent forum. i dont think we are allowed to post the link here.

shitty. my car got stolen and I had an auto y7 with a z6 trans, I have the auto trans with the vin number of the car the motor came from and i need to trace the serial number
