Default Motor problems... need help..

I was driving normally.. went from a stop, and at around 4000rpm my motor loses power, and starts to backfire like hell. My first instict was snapped timing belt (happened to me before) so of course i let off the gas.. and the car just dies. Check under the hood, then try to fire up again, it turns over and backfires all the while.. wont fire up. Pop the clutch, it starts and runs like crap.. backfiring the whole time, then it dies. Checked for spark, and it was firing fine.. but i knew my distrib was already bad.. so i changed it. Heres what i did today : put on new distributor, reset motor to TDC, new plugs. So tried to fire it up again, no luck.. NO SPARK.. im totally stumped. anybody have any idea?? it was throwing a code before, Crank angle sensor (#1 piston position) code i think.. and my distrib was squeaking.. now there is no spark at all, bad ground maybe? thanks in advance.

Did you get the right distrib? Is it plugged in? How about the coil?

Double check all of the electrical connections inside the distributor. Sounds like your old distributor was the problem, so now it's probably just an install problem. It's easy to miss a connection when you swap distributors. Did you swap the little wire from the coil to the igniter into your new distributor? Good luck.

Its most likely a connection problem.. but what should i be looking for? Could it be a fuse that has burned out? Its def not the coil.. What wire runs from the coil to the igniter? thanks for the help guys.
