Could be compression but had a friend that had over tightened his valve ajustments and the car done similar sounds. His ran but the car ran like sh*t. I would also chech to the valve ajustments.

No compression or very very low compression. The starter seems fine. I'd start with a compression test.

check to make sure your cams are lined up! When i did my ls vtec i had the same exact problem ended up being one of the cams was 180degrees out, i had one of the arrows on the cams facing up and the other facing down when I aligned the timing marks.

Like others said before. Compression test it. It sounds like there is little to no compression. Who or where did you buy the motor from?

Re: motor not starting, video inside
Same exact noise happened to me before. What caused it was me putting my distributor on 180 degrees wrong (in other words, flipped around) With the distributor being this far off, when I started my car, it knocked my timing way off (my exhaust cam was at TDC but my intake cam was pointing 90 degrees to the right lol) and I was getting the same exact sound you are getting. That sound is happening because your timing is way off and your "fire" is being created way before it can get any air or fuel to bring it to life. When your spark happens, there is nothing to ignite. Have you checked your timing yet?
I set my distributor back to where it should be, then adjusted the timing of my motor back to where it should be, and she fired right up. Im 100% that you are having the same problem.

Re: motor not starting, video inside
both cams and crank are at TDC. the dizzy is on the correct way (the 2 prongs are offsetted to one side so it onlyl goes in 1 way) getting fuel. fuel pressure is at 41psi. i am getting spark.
k so i had another b16 head on before and it started right up. all i did was swap on another head. head bolts are torqued down to spec. using a new fel-pro head gasket. oil is clean, coolant is clean. im stumped.

You may have flooded the engine, causing low cylinder compression by thinning of the engine oil with gasoline. Try replacing the engine oil.

what head did you put on? It sounds like one hole or maybe two has compression. Do a compression test and see where your at.

it's a b16a block with a b16a2 head. and i think its the block thats at fault. i think i feel a slight bump towards the bottom. so probally not haveing the head seat against the block flushly.

Seriously, perform a compression test. If you get bad results you could always perform a leakdown test to pinpoint exactly where you're loosing compression at.

How good of a spark are you getting? It might just be a week coil in the dis. Check the OHM reading on the coil again or just change it like i did on my del sol. It was only getting a blueish spark and it was no where near enough to run the motor.

Re: motor not starting, video inside
turns out the head was resurfaced horribly uneven. so thus no compression due to gaps between head and block. thanks for all your guy's help.
