Most reliable way to achieve a mid 13 sec EK hatch?
Whats up guys, new to the forum. Ive been searching and reading stickys for the past few weeks. I just picked up a 99 ek hatch, im looking to do a swap in the near future. I would like to obtain a mid 13 sec 1/4 daily driver, keeping the reliability. Would a gsr type R get me close? Thanks in advance!

make it as light as possible, stick an ls in it. you really dont need; back seats, passanger seat, carpet, dash, door panels, ac, ps, heater. . . ext. get the interior to bare metal pretty much. should do fine with a stock engine. most reliable is stock. . .

turbo if you have money to spend. other than that you can make a high compression 1.8 dohc
or an h22

I'd rather take a 4k or 5k stash and build up a motor however I want it, instead of splurging on a b18c5 personally....

mid 13's?
i would just throw an H22 in it, put 5psi of boost into it, and keep it under 6500 rpms and you should see 13's, possibly even 12s or better. maybe even more if you do a H2B and use a GSR or b16 tranny.

H22 or K series. It would be hard to make a 13 second LS in an EK. You could go LS-Vtec, but that wouldnt be reliable. If you stripped it down completely and threw a k or h in it your could hit high 13's with a good driver with it mostly stock. Then you have a great canidate for turbo and you could throw down some serious horsepower
