Default Civic won't start.

1993 Civic LX with B18c1 swapped in, running hondata S300 on a P28.

I got in the car the other day, started it and it bottomed out trying to get out the driveway so I pulled back up and took my Integra instead.

Next day I got in the car and tried to start it, and it wouldn't. The car cranks, occassionally sounds like it's firing, but won't start.

I have checked for spark from the distributor, and even put a known good distributor on. Took off the air filter. Tried 2 other main relays. Another ECU. I am getting about 44psi of fuel pressure at the filter and I smell gas when I crank the car for a bit. I recharged the battery that's about a year old. I checked all my fuses and 2 of the grounds, just not the thermostat ground since my hands were freezing working on the thing. I'm running out of ideas. All I can think of is checking that ground, checking mechanical timing.

The car does seem like it's cranking kind of fast, but it started fine the day before and only ran for maybe 30 seconds. Nothing should have changed. I cranked it quite a bit thinking that I may have flooded it, and I also left it a day incase the motor didn't air out.

Might be a long shot but if you improperly disconnected hondata could have corrupted it. save the basemap and reset/reflash it. I know this because i have done it a few times on Neptune/damen. Reset the unit reflash the tune then try to restart it. and make sure you ALWAYS disconnect it properly.

Thanks for the input. I didn't have my computer hooked up at all the last couple times I drove the car. When I tried another ECU, I re uploaded the map.

Is spark bright white at all 4 spark plugs?

Will the engine start with starting fluid?

As you said, check the mechanical timing.

Also, compression test the cylinders.

Any CEL codes?

Id also be certain its mechanical timing, same thing happened to my buddy not long ago timing belt wasnt tight enough and jumped a few teeth then had similar symptoms. but ive also seen a few with bad plugs/wires have similar symptoms also
but as ronj said start with spark, compression, then timing needs all 3 to run one is missing.

The spark was a bit weak with a NEW BKR7E-11 stuck in a plug wire and laid on the valve cover. Only had one extra to test with. I replaced the coil and ICM. Nothing.
I charged the battery, cleaned all my grounds, still nothing.

I checked my mechanical timing, and cranking the motor with a breaker bar, I had decent compression.

I had to order new plugs, so I finally get them and throw them in, and it started right up after that.

I'm not sure if I fouled the old plugs or what.
