Moronic Chicago drivers, precisely why suspension and practice is important.
To make a long story short, I got in a 3 car accident today because a car tried to merge into my lane, I swerved to avoid a definite collission and the first car and some blue car from the left lost control and I got clipped twice somehow. One car ended up sideways in the ditch, one landed upside down on top of a fense and I just got a little dent in my fender and dented up my wheel well rust. Aside from shaking my girlfriend and I up a little, that's the only damage I got.
I'll say this much, stock Civics handle lousy and running a stiff swaybar, shocks, springs, bushings is possibly the only reason I could straighten out my car while driving about 70 and getting hit out of nowhere and losing control. Also, cutting donuts and doing powerslides in empty snow covered parking lots is great practice to get to know your car and prepare if you have to do it on the street.

Good for you. Fortunately you and your GF didn't get hurt. This has happened to me as well. If it wasn't for my Teins and my tires I probably would have spun out trying to avoid a dumbass making an illegal u-turn in front of me.

On stock suspension I've done some lane swings at ~40 mph, not too scary, but definitely do want suspension work.

I have too and it's not fun. If I had stock suspension, or didn't play around and do donuts and crap I would have wrecked. After this, I want to improve my suspension even more.

ur tellin me man
and playing around in parking lots helps alot cuz if the only time that your car under/overstears is in a time of danger ur not going to be used to it and panic. but if u do things like that for fun u have a better ablity to respond to the sittuation in a calm state and DRIVE out of a crash
before i got a honda i had a old 93 chevy s10 5speed and i used to drift that around parking lots and other safe places in the snow religiously in theses sick chicago winters and it DEFFINATLY made me a much better driver knowing how to handle a car that lost control

I can't complain too much about the sherrif who was there, he didn't take my insurance or liscence info, so it won't get back to my insurance company. I can't imagine them actually have everyone go to court, they'd need a gigantic court with several rooms running 24/7. There were 3 more accidents while we were stopped there, all from idiots stopping to look and causing cars to rear end them or another car behind them.
