More tranny problems
swapped my friends clutch on a 93 Si hatch this weekend. after 2 days of
working fine, he pulls out of a parking lot and on his account the car
acts like he let go of the clutch to quickly and stumbles just a bit and
all of a sudden NO power transmission. all you hear is a bit of rotating
rubbing noise, and when you rev the engine in gear the speedo kinda jumps
up. pedal feels fine, gears shift without much resistance if at all.
this is kinda scaring me because at worst i think the input shaft is
cracked, because it took us a while to align the tranny back in the engine
so we left the input shaft carrying the weight of the tranny a lot. at
best, something about the throwout bearing paddle is stuck. i never really
dealt with the hydraulic clutch before, maybe something popped out of
alignment. the other thing i can think of is axles. when i got to check
out his car, it was real dark and i really didnt get to check out
anything. any advice is welcome. i feel very responsible for this since i
basically did most of the work swapping the clutch and i cant leave my
friend hanging, and im only here for another day and a half to help.
thanks.

Re: More tranny problems (Mista Bone)
you can do some quick external checks. If the axel popped, which it sounds like it did, it's going to be pretty obvious when you look under the car.
If that's not it, you can see if the release fork is still working by just removing the boot and having someone push in the clutch.
Don't rule out failure either. I suppose it's possible you separated the clutch disc from the hub. You can remove the clutch access cover if you want to get a peek inside.

Re: More tranny problems (Tyson)
kinda like mine right now. I am fighting with tranny problems. put in new clutch and flywheel and nwo i only have 3rd and 4th gears. tranny should come apart today and see if i need to re align the gears. it isnt good when you break axles and clutch all at once.
