mods for autocrossing?

Re: mods for autocrossing? (Vtecivic99)
Don't do anything yet.
First, take your car to the autocross stock and learn to drive it. If you absolutely have to buy something for the car, buy Falken Azenis tires.
After that, you'll want to be looking for a new suspension set up. Search around the Civic forum and the Road Race and Autocross forum for what people are doing with their cars.

Driving school, patience and practice are the cheapest and best way to improve times in auto-x period.
And I echo what Bagel Williams said, good tires will do more than anything.

get experience from your STOCK car then build on top of that, makes mod. that will actually help you.
Change any items that will wear are allow in stock.
(I try to remain in stock for one full season before changing anything. to get expereince)
the first thing I would get other then experience would be tires.

Yeah, I'll be at MMP. It's on the 16th, right? Do you know what time everything kicks off?
I'll be in a '99 Si electron blue pearl. What will you be in? I'll keep an eye out for you.

Do as I Say not as I do
I recommend staying stock and like someone suggested maybe get some Falken Azenis on your stock wheels.
Here's my saying: You can spend $1000 on a nice coilover system and maybe gain .5-1 second on a 60 second course. Spend $225 on an Evolution school (http://www.autocross.com/evolution) or $50-100 on a Novice Autocross school (usually held by your local autocross group) and knock off 4-8 seconds on the same course.
Fixing the driver is the biggest improvement you can make to your car. Everyone who autocrosses their first time thinks they are the best driver in the world Which is almost less than the fact. Fixing the nut behind the wheel teaches you to be a better driver. One Evolution School is like attending 10 autocrosses in one weekend

driving school.

Goddamn right! The best way to make a car faster is to tighten the nut behind the wheel.

Re: mods for autocrossing? (Vtecivic99)
First, start with suspension - get a set of the Tein SS coilovers, a skunk 2 rear sway bar and an Ingalls camber kit, and Mugen front/rear strut tower bars -- this is what I run in my coupe and its a sick sick setup -- I have been real happy with it.
Then, you may wanna do some engine/trans mods like a lightweight flywheel and a perf clutch.
This should be a great setup, but then again, what one person likes and uses, another hates. Alot is just trial and error to see what setup YOU like the best!

Re: mods for autocrossing? (powerslide360)
Do you know anything about autocrossing? If not then all those mods would dump you into Street Mod against guys who spend $$$$ to gain that last .1 second.
So please don't give misinformation especially to a newbie for autocross.

For what it costs to get Koni Yellows and Groudn Controls, you can pick up TEIN HA's .... for what it costs to Have Koni Yellows Revalved to handle serious racing spring rates, you can have J.I.C. Magic .... you do the math, half *** sleeves, or full coils, for the same tag ....
