Dude seriously, its a CIVIC. First of all dont rush into things. Dont start just adding random parts. like wings, or random bodykits...dont do what i did when i first got my honda. play it smart. but on the other hand if you just want to have a ricer go for it...are you looking for looks or performance?

Do what makes you happy, and keeps you interested/loving your Honda, thats what really matters in the end. I don't know how wild and crazy you want to get. Lower it a bit, get some nicer suspension, and rims/tires for a better cornering car. Transmission swap(if its not a 5 speed) or motor swap if you have the money for a faster and more fun daily. Almost anything you want to do can be found on this site, use the search engine, and if all else fails, Ask! Welcome to Honda-Tech!

i definitely do NOT want a ricer i'm not huge on the body kits and spoilers since its a front wheel drive car but i'm looking for a little bit of both but someone told me that i would have to put a different motor in it to make it faster but they failed to mention what kind of motor also i wouldnt mind it looking better but i want it to be clean.

you don't need a new motor. look up "mini-me" or "vtec head".do that and turbo it.cheap and good gas mileage still.

well a lot of people just turbo thier d-series motors, but personally i'm a strong supporter of the b-series. a b18b swap wouldn't run that much money to be honest. I have an ls-vtec in my civic and it blasts through the streets I love it. It's all ultimately up to you though for exterior my only real suggestion is convert the front end to a 99-00 front end with si grille and lip paint it to match and lower it a bit on some nice rims. rota's are pretty cheap rims and look nice for that, and when you get an exhaust don't get a crazy super loud one..just my 2c

yeah u should do some reading. grab some honda tuning magazines from the store or something and read them. also look at other people's builds and get an idea of what you like, because there are so many things you can do with your civic.

do what you like and do it right the first time... if you want us to be more specific then your going to have to be more specific and tell us How much money you are willing to spend, what you are going for, etc.

oh yea do some research, if you dont know what motor to upgrade from your dx try wiki b series motors

Hello,
Ever since I ran into the mini me y7-y8 conversion, I have been reading up on it non stop. I think I have most, if not all of the needed parts to buy. Also, I have put together a pretty handy install guide, borrowed from various forums mini me dyi. However, I am still not absolute on the ECU issue. How to wire it? the knock sensor, etc.. Here is a list of parts needed. Please add/remove and unneeded parts- also ANY clarification on the ecu upgrade would be great!
Also- my car is AT- so i get the at ecu for now? need AT engine wiring?

new to forum- so I couldnt make a new thread- sorry if this is kinda hi-jacking

NEEDED PARTS: ??
-y8 knock sensor
- y8 wiring harness
-D16y8 Head /gasket
-D16y8 Intake Manifold /gasket
-D16y8 Throttle Body /gasket
-D16y8 Fuel Rail
-D16y8 Fuel Injectors
-Exhaust Manifold Gasket
-Timing Belt
- 96-00 civc ex spark plugs
- dizzy ex y8
-Intake
-ECU P2P: 96-00 OBD-2 ex -Vtec Comp - find both o2 sensors- find knock sensor - find install info
-Wire/Wire connectors
-Copper Spray
-Coolant
-Oil/Oil Filter
-Colored Tape- marking- colored markers
-Zip Lock Bags
-Haynes Manual- head stud tightning order- w/ torque lbs. -

heres what i would do if I were NEW to honda-tech.
1) read rules
2) read through FAQ
3) use search function
4) search on google...

You can't just post and expect people to give you the answers all the time.

Note: doing your own reasearch greatly advances your general knowledge base and should not be discounted by taking the short cut route.

being new to forums doesnt make a me moron or 12.. dont address me as such. If you didnt want to help.. keep it to yourself. Youre right, in that, I will post to a proper forum- and have a more descriptive question addressing the ecu conversion process. Its hard to create a new thread specifically adressing the AT ecu y7 to y8 conversion process when you arent allowed to create a new thread within 15 days of creating a new account- you prolly knew that tho.

^^^ dude chill he's right and he's saying it in a nice way yoir lucky you didnt get some of the real ht ahoes to tell u that in a NICER way

As for your wiring you have an auto so you already have a 2 wire iacv disregard the iacv wiring. Knock sensor thread it into any metal in the engine bay like an alternator bracket etc. Although the block is ideal its not necessary we just want the ecu to get a ks signal. Vtec solenoid and pressure just run wire back to the ecu to the corresponding pins look th up

Im chill brah lol. The knock sensor I found a guide on. The IACV just plugs right in using the y8 AT wiring? or i can keep my y7 and plug right in? The vtec solenoid and pressure run to the ecu- i think the problem is the only guides i find dont cover p2p obd 2 pin placement. Or wont I have to deal with that orange wire business? I have been searching all over- not trying to ask for help- Pieced it all together. just need some clarification on the ecu stuff- ill assume i need a y8 AT ecu? Just a simple question with a simple answer =P no need for any e-ragers to lose composure.
