mod exhaust ticket 27150/27151
Hey yall I read through a bunch of threads on going to the state ref to get your exhaust tested to make sure it is under the state maximum of 95db @ 50ft..
Can anyone give me the step by step that they had to go through at the ref? Did they look at anything else? Did they run any obdII diagnostics on the car? What Rpm did they test to? Any and all info would be much appreciated..

what kind of motor do you have? Is it legal or barred? type of exhaust? Are you running a aftermarket header?

apparently you didnt' answer my question so i can't answer yours, only certain exhaust applications are legal. Even so if your running a legal exhaust with a legal header your exhaust DB will not be legal. All in all, your better off taking off what ever mod you can and then go for the test.
There are cases where some get away with having carb i/h/e, then again it also comes down to the person who's testing your car.

i mean in Cali doesnt it state that ANY modification to your exhaust is illegal ? I think it does , but i might be wrong. i had a flow master on my old OZ Rally, and got pulled over by a city cop. All i did was go to the local CHP office in Temecula "for me it was closest" and the officer asked me to start my car. As soon as i did he said it was fine and signed it off. That particualr officer didn't really seem to care much. Got pulled over in my old Accord with a ApexI exhaust for the same thing ... it was even more quite then the flowmaster. Did the same thing with the same result. I think here in cali they go after the look more then the noise and really cant prove it without a decible meter, but impossible to fight the ticket, because its a modification.

I answered all your questions Bmoua the post right after you asked them
You asked what kind of motor I put stock
legal or barred I put legal
exhaust rsr full can
aftermarket header no
My question was more to the fact of what is entailed in the test.. My car is way under 95 db at 50feet..
The modified exhaust tickets are normally written under cvc 27151 which states all mods that create more noise is illegal.. But in paragraph B it also states that aftermarket exhausts are legal as long as they adhere to the federally mandated sound limit of 95db at 50feet..
cvc 27150 only states that all vehicles must have a working muffler
Blzdeep You are supposed to go to the state ref where they will db test your vehicle for compliance..
