Mobil Clean 5000, anyone using it?
I was gonna pick up my usual Castrol GTX 10w30 conventional oil which was on sale for $1.59/qt until tomorrow at Autozone, but I saw Mobil Clean 5000 was only $2.19/qt. I know Mobil is the **** when it comes to synthetic, but this stuff is conventional and I don't use synthetic so I thought I'd give it a try. Also picked up a $11 Mobil 1 oil filter which was a change from the usual honda one that costs $7.50 at the dealership. The guy at Autozone said that the Mobil filters are made at the same place as Bosch filters except the Mobil filters have synthetic fibers on the element. Is this true? Together it was about $21, $6 more than what Ipaid for the other stuff. Hopefully it's worth the money.

My father was asking me about this stuff the other day. Is this the new replacement for Mobil 1? I don't use Mobil 1 at this time since the motor in my EK had 180k..... Will be back to synthetic when I'm riding a Hybrid again
Oh, and you should be able to get Honda filters for around $5 a pop
In for info on the 5000

Not at the rip off dealership in my area. It's $7 and tax. I can travel a little further and get it for cheaper probably.

I think the mobil 5000 is just a marketing scam getting people to think they can go 5,000 mile oil changes, IMO you should go by what the owners manual says. I change mine every 3k-4k miles with mobil 1 5w30 with a purolator pure one filter. You have to watch when buying these new oils, mobil has oil thats supposed to be good for 15,000 miles but you need to check the api service grade to see whether or not it'll work in your car and the newer oils are different and your not supposed to put that in older cars.

I always change my oil every 3k miles with a new filter no matter what the oil because I only use conventional $2/qt stuff.
I don't get why you would spend so much money on synthetics that are supposed to last a long time and then change it so often. Doesn't that defeat its purpose?

I believe Honda manuals recommend 7,500 intervals
It really is not necessary to change synthetic every 3-4k.... I used to go 5k which is probably still wasting good oil. Unless you of course are running the RPM's high all the time which I know people who do this

Re: Mobil Clean 5000, anyone using it?
I just like keeping my engine clean and I don't have far to drive to work which is 5 min. and that is driving at 35 mph. I don't really drive it anymore since I have a 150k mile warranty from honda and it's 147k now so I've been keeping the miles down as I can't afford another $700 ecu that they gave me for free so... also I've bought a truck but now gas keeps going up I'm starting to drive it again. So my car does a lot of sitting and when it's drove it doesn't get driven too much. There isn't many people that change oil as much as I do, lol, I like changing it, for one thing it's easy and also it's preventative maintenance. If you keep your oil regularly changed it will last a lot longer. I'm not saying I haven't gone 5k miles or so which I know I have but most of the time it's around 3k-4k or so whenever the funds allow. I just started taking some college classes so things are pretty tight now so I'm sure this one will probably go 5k.

iT'S more of a marketing scam to make people think they have to change their oil every 3K.
