My radiator was leaking so I just started replacing it. I drained the old one out via the drain plug and it is now off. I'm sure i have more coolant in the rest of my coolant system.

The color of the coolant is green, not sure what type though.

So today I went out and bought some PEAK 50/50 pre mixed coolant. Will I be fine adding to the old coolant?

Does it mix fine?


Also how do I bleed the air on my b16? Do I have a bleed valve near the thermo or is that only on SOHC's? Thanks.

mixing colors is generally ok

Do you have a bleeder on your upper water neck at the head? That would be fairly obvious...
If not, you need to use the "burping" method by removing the radiator cap

Yea I thought It would be okay to do so. The container says "mixes with any color" but I just wanted to see what you guys had to say about it. The guy at autozone said the only thing you CANT do this with it the DEX COOL Coolant. (Orange/red stuff)

As for the bleeder, I don't exactly know what to look for. What does it look like?

look for the bleeder valve right behinf the thermostat housing and heater hose. mine is goldish in color and kinda pointed w/ holes around the outside and take a 10mm i beleive to open and close.

Kinda looks like a brake bleeder...but not...
If its on the water neck, it looks like:

Its the thing in front, obviously...the thing behind is a temp sender

you can mix any green-green, or dex-dex, if you mix dex-green you will eventually get something jello like! oh and hi! for my first post

So mixing green with a color OTHER THAN green would be bad, is that what you're saying?

green and orange=bad... other than that your good

Doesn't matter if it's blue, green, or somewhere in between. What you can't mix in is red/pinkorange DEX-COOL (OAT Coolant).

Blue/Green = Inorganic
Red/Pink/Orange = Organic

The inorganic coolants are typically made up of propylene and ethylene glycols, whereas the organics are made with organic glycerin compounds.

toyota coolant is a 50 / 50 mix and theirs is pink.

its ok to mix with theirs.

dexcool is typically used in american vehicles.

as long as you are still working with a honda use 50.50 and you will be fine
