Mix Honda MTF and motor oil?
I can't believe that I am posting another MTF question!
I bought a 95 Del Sol about 6 months ago. It shifted very smooth.
2 Months ago I changed the trans oil. I put in 2 quarts of Honda MTF. Now it is no where near as smooth as before. It is accetable, but not as good as it was. Also, there is now a little more gear noise. Not much, but just a slight gear whine in the lower gears.
Has anyone used anything that they like better than Honda MTF? I wish I knew what was in the trans before I changed it.
I still have one quart of MTF left. I'm thinking that I might mix that 1 quart of MTF with one quart of motor oil and see how that works.
Any ideas or comments? Thanks.

redline stuff is pricey but worth it if your having issues. In my 03 civic, 2nd gear wasn't smooth till I put that stuff in. I don't have easy access to it anymore

i have used Honda MTF, GM sycnromesh, Penziol Syncromesh, and advance auto 10w-30 all on the same y8 tranny
the cheap 10w-30 works the best. I was reading that the new honda mtf is way too thin for our trannies. Alot of people recommend just to use the 10w-30

Re: (The Lobster)
I doubt the previous owner did any work or maintenance on the car himself.
So I would think that the if he ever had the trans oil changed, it was probably done by the local quick oil change place. They may have used motor oil in it.
So, I am going to try two things. One will be gm synchromesh and the other will be 10w-30 motor oil. As the post title says, I may also try half Honda MTF and half motor oil, since I have one quart of Honda MTF left.
Is there any place to get the gm synchromesh, other than the dealer?

Re: (EG6 Love)
You only need one fluid in that tranny. All the people that say otherwise just dont know any better or had problems and blame the syncromesh. remember its the Friction Mod kind, and do not mix this with reg mtf
