Default mishimoto radiator hose size problem

Just put a Mishimoto radiator in my son's '95 Civic. It fits ok - it is actually a little short so I used a couple of washers to tilt the upper bracket down to fit better. The problem I have is that the lower hose will only go on about 3/4". The upper one went on fine, but the lower one refuses to stretch out enough. I measured the lower pipe on both the old and the Mishimoto radiator and the Mishi is about 1/8" larger. What gives? I have sent an email to Mishimoto but have not heard from them yet.

Did the seller provide the incorrect radiator? is this a factory 'second'? Can I get a metal adapter/reducer to make a good, reliable connection?

Thanks... P.S. - why is his dipstick melting (smoke coming from the top of the tube)?

you may have to try a b-series hose, they are slightly larger.

Which radiator model did you get? The standard D series radiator outlet is 28 mm while the B series outlet is 32 mm. You said about 1/8" which is 3.175 mm, so that sounds about right.

Strange that the upper and lower hoses differ though -- they're the same unless a hose was replaced before. You can try changing the hose and then clamping the larger end down tighter.

I have a mishimoto radiator in my hatch. You have to use b series hoses, I had the same issue.

It would be easier touse the b series hoses but if thats not an option you could probably lube the outlet up a little and slip it right on.
