Default Mirror Glass

I was wondering if the glass from the side view mirrors is removable, and if so, how it's done. I'd like to take the glass out so I can epoxy in some LEDs in the gap between the mirror glass and the housing for turn signals. I have a 00 EX with power mirrors.

I was thinking about sidemarkers, but I don't want to rice my car, but I do want the safety of the sidemarkers for all those people who don't look while changing lanes.

Also, would shrink wrapping the ends of the LEDs protect the wiring, or is there some other option.

Um that would be more ricey than some Ek sidemarkers. Sidemarkers arent ricey if there the right ones (not APC).

I've tried to take the glass off of my old broken mirror, no luck. but, you can get the side markers from passwordjdm.com , jdmsh!t.com usually stocks them also, just check around, they're not very hard to find these days. you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the links guys. I'll have to think it over a lot more. I loved the sidemarkers on my VW's, but I'm not sure on a civic. I've been wanting the safety of them though, but just can't bring myself to put them on my civic. I thought the LED's would be a good comprimise, because you wouldn't be able to see them. I may just do nothing at all, and continue to bitch about how the car should have something.

Also, I checked my service manual, and it says that you can remove the glass by carefully prying away with a screwdriver wrapped in a shop towel.

Ok here is how you do it. And it is not ricey its kewl. Hello we drive ****** rice burners. Get a grip. Well I know in my 93 there is a little set screw on the bottom of the mirror. That screw holds a clip that holds the bottom portion of the actuator for the power mirror. You will want to take the mirror off the car when removing the glass. Pull back the rubber seal to expose 2 screws that hold the wiring clip in the mirror. I ran my new wires through both factory harnesses (mirror/door and door/body) It can be a pain in the *** to install new pins in those clips. Just be smart about this part. Common sense is key. I will post a pic of my working model design that is phatty. I know you all will enjoy it. STAY TUNED!!!
