Mini-Me Swap.... Idle Problems

Mini-Me Swap.... Idle Problems
ok, heres the deal. two months ago i did a mini-me swap. got it installed correctly but i had problems getting it started. i tried for weeks to get it running and i finally gave up and towed it to my friends house and had him work on it. he figured out it was the injectors so he swapped them out ok, i drive home, car is fine. next day i goto drive and the cars idle is fucked. it idled really high. so i put my foot behind the gas pedal and pulled up. that just made the car bog out. well i have been driving the car like this for like two months now. i just recently noticed that my radiator cap was bad so i fixed that and it runs alittle better. but still, whenever i take the car out of gear for more than 5 secs (like to slowly downshift approaching a light) the car will just bog out and die. i have to come upto a light in 2nd. and put the clutch in, give it gas, apply brakes till stopped, pull e-brake, and keep my foot on the gas or it will just fluctuate 1300 to 1700 constantly then die. pretty pathetic. sometimes it idles fine at a light or when stopped and sometimes it doesn't. the longest its held idle while at operating temps is like 30 seconds. I have no codes. I have new injectors, coolant system is bled, idle wasn't touched, and i have all new sensors. I am wondering if my
timing is off cuz of the mini-me swap. would an adjustable cam gear help the problem? I need to get my car running right so i have reliable transportation to work when i get a job. please help me figure this out. thanks

me and my friend just put a d16y8 head on his b7 block it took us 2 days we used the y8 headgasket and z6 belt.. so far no problems.. it did tho take us 1 day to get the timing right... i guess when u do a mini me your cam timing is a half a tooth off or something like that... but he has no problems with what u have... maybe check for vacume leaks around the gaskets intake and tb check ur fuel pressure

how do i check the fuel pressure and how do i check for vaccumm leaks? btw, i bought this cam gear the other day and i will be getting it sometime around Wed. or Thurs.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1206706 BUT i will have a hard time installing it cuz i dont have the plastic pieces with the timing marks and my valve cover is painted so i have no way of knowing which way is "UP" other than by the camgear thats on there now

when i did my mini me swap i had timing off and i had the same situation so im saying its def the timing. get an adjustable cam, make sure they are both at top dead center.

Re: (D-money CX)
ok, well just incase that isn't it, would the only other obvious problem be a vaccumm leak? is there any specific way to install the cam gear? or just throw it on and make sure its TDC?

Re: (bmw626)
loosen the timing belt remove the bolt on the cam-gear and tap it off with a hammer and then put the adjustable one on and put the bolt back on the cam then tighten the timing belt.
have your friend sit in the car and pop the hood and listen for a hisss if you dont hear one then you dont have a vacum leak.

Re: (bmw626)
I must have gotten lucky I did my mini swap in 4 1/2 hrs 2 days ago. y7 bottom y8 head. Stock dx computer, field vtec controller. I didnt have any problems. (knock on wood) But Ive never heard of the timing being off for the swap. Its should be good to go if everything is set at tdc.

Re: (bmw626)
i have the camgear, just cant install it (too cold here) but my dad took a ride in my car with me and he said there is no way the timing can be doing that with my idle. he said it has to be a vacuum leak. so i guess i wasted $50. but i hate working with the TB cuz its at the back of the motor compartment and hard to bend over and work back there (i have an H&R race drop)

Re: (bmw626)
To find an vacuum leak, let the car idle and get yourself a can of carb cleaner. Then spray over the intake manifold and all your vacuum lines and if the idle smooths out then you found your vac leak
