Re: Mini-me swap (chaz2190)
search; this has been covered 800 million times. There are tons of writeups explaining the parts you need and how to install them.
As for cost, it'll vary depending on your luck, patience, and how much you buy. I paid a **** load for mine ($1000 ), but I got a lot of extras, and I blew the head gasket once...

dont do it unless u plan on changin to a si/ex tranny
the cx tranny wasnt made for vtec
its impossible to engage vtec in any gear besides first without already reachin 70mph+

also, don't do it unless you can either (a) get the parts for very cheap and have a spare car in case you expletive yours up, or (b) need to replace something major, such as the head itself, head gasket, or the timing belt.
I still have my DX tranny (which is probably slowing it down), it's untuned, and I can barely feel a difference. Hopefully I'll have a different opinion after tuning. At least now the torque doesn't drop off after 5500...

good advice
for 600, I guess it's worth it. Just take your time and do it right. You shouldn't have much trouble, if any.

I don't even know what that is, so I guess not.

I had enough problems....here goes:
WHAT NOT TO DO: forget to put a clamp back on a coolant hose and use Permatex Copper Spray
WHAT HAPPENS: I blew the head gasket. DO NOT USE COPPER SPRAY
WHAT NOT TO DO: I'm still not sure... I guess not torque everything down correctly
WHAT HAPPENS: My A/C idler pulley fell off the damn car. But expletive A/C; who needs it...
WHAT NOT TO DO: forget to pull the ECU fuse when doing compression tests
WHAT HAPPENS: I spent a week and a half diagnosing a no-start; turned out that I weakened the ignition coil by doing this, and the spark was too weak to start the engine
WHAT NOT TO DO: leave the car untuned
WHAT HAPPENS: it runs like ****
that's all I remember. These mistakes were clearly my fault, but it could've happened to anyone.

Re: (chaz2190)
I don't either; I'm giving it to somebody else. From what I've heard (and experienced), you NEED some sort of tuning to get your money's worth. Stock timing and fuel maps won't do a mini-me justice.

A mini-me is illegal in California and will not pass visual emissions inspection, so no, I wouldn't bother.

How can u speak on cali when ur from pittsburgh
Dont listen to this guy
Just look at his sig" Friends dont let friends drive ek's"
nothin he says is credible because of that statement alone
The heads look identical besides the intake manifold & valve cover
Just hook up all the sensors & fix all ur cels & u will pass smog no problem
& i agree with a 70 shot
