Default mini-me or d16y8??

i have a 93 civic hatch with a d15b8 in it. i need more power and torque, but i dont know what swap to perform. i also need it to be cheap....like less than a thousand. i can either do the mini-me or a d16y8. if i did the mini-me, i would get more power but i know that the d15b8 block is not the strongest block. i could keep my motor in the car, get about 160 hp (supposedly) and have some mad compression. . on the other hand, i could get a d16y8 out of a newer civic. it already is wired for vtec and i could just drop in and go. the only problem here is the whole conversion of obd-2 to obd-1. i need some opinions. my friends are all mixed on the idea. thanks guys.

Default Re: mini-me or d16y8?? (that_eg_hatch_guy)

I would just do a swap. I don't remember which b8 blocks have pistons with 16 valve reliefs, and I would recommend checking that out. You have an 8 valve engine, and it would suck to tear the engine open only to realize your pistons only have 2 valve reliefs each.

You're also not going to have THAT high compression with a b8/y8 mini-me, and you most definitely will not make 160hp.
