Default MINI-ME OR D16Y8??

MY QUESTION IS WHICH ONE IS BETTER AS FAR AS COMPRESSION OR TO RUN A TURBO OR ALL-MOTOR. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THEY ARE BASICALY THE SAME BUT I WONDER IF IT IS JUST CHEAPER OR BETTER TO SWAP IN A D16Y8 IN STEAD OF THE MINI-ME SET UP?

THANX

If you can find one, Y8, why not just drop in that motor? It would already be put together and you'll probably get the same amount of power anyways. They are still both just D series.

just get a y8 manifold and leave the y7 block alone.

The head flow difference is minimal, and without the vtec lobes you'll have more power midrange.

I would say it depends on what route you want to go and what you feel is most worth your time and money.

Default mini me or d16y8? mini me

its a little more ideal to put a d16y8 head due to the slight displacement on a 1.5 non vtec block because it raises the compression to a cool 12.01 which that my friend is pretty damb close to a b16 compression ratio..that is the mini me

first he should clarify which non vtec block it is because a y7 is a 1.6 not 1.5 and unless the y8 has more quench area i really dont see how that head would raise the compression to a cool 12:1 without machining.

i would say screw all motor and turbo whatever engine you already have put together.

budget turbo FTW.

12:1 compression, no. Use the search button before giving misguiding information.

12.01:1 compression with stock components? What are you smoking? I want some.
