mini me cold start high idle
just finished my mini me y7/y8 i also have the cold air assist set up too so maby thats why but my idle on cold start rises up to around 2k for a while then drops down to about 1500 not sure why but is this normal for the 99-00 d16y8 with the cold air assist valve?
i have a video it cut off short though

Re: mini me cold start high idle
I don't know about the 6th gen with cold air assist.
The 5th gen (92-95) uses a Fast Idle Thermo Valve that keeps the idle at about 1500 RPM and drops it down slowly to 750 once fully warm.
If your cold air assist is the same sort of idea, it should act similiar just not sure the RPM ranges it should be operating in. 2000 RPM does seem a little high but I am also used to my 5th gen civics so not really sure there.

Re: mini me cold start high idle
What ECU?
Any check engine lights?
Are you auto or manual?
Is your manifold an auto or manual one?
Did you use the correct intake manifold gasket?
Clean your IACV?
Set the base idle and adjust the throttle cable tension?

Re: mini me cold start high idle
y8 99-00 manual ecu
y8 99-00 manual intake manifold and gasket
cel if for secondary o2 sensor not hooked up yet
almost posative the head is a 99-00
i cleaned the iacv prior to install
i bought a new y8 throttle cable put it on to where it seemed good im not 100% that its in the right spot however
a few mins later the idle will drop down to 1500 then slowly drop down to operation temp.
just thought the high rising idle to 2k was a bit strange for a while

Re: mini me cold start high idle
well i figured out why my rpms were hanging i think it was because i still had air in my coolant.. however the high idle cold start is still doing it
my friend said it may be because i dont have a o2 sensor plugged in so once i get that well see.. im going to get a vaccume pump guage and check the cold air assist out and get a timing light to put the finishing touches on.. i checked all the live data on my scan tool everything was in spec

Re: mini me cold start high idle
Alright so if anyone else see this and is still concerned mine broke on the top valve so I just put the two house together and taped off the valve. RPM’s will be right at cold start just takes a little longer to warm up
