i did the same thing y7 block and y8 head.
when you take off the head look between cylinders 2 and 3 closer to the intake manifold side of the block. there should be an oil jet. you'll need to remove that jet to have vtec. as for oil lines like the ls/vtec, i never had to do that. just make sure to remove the oil jet. also you can look on ff-squad.com for wiring up your vtec solenoid and pressure switch.
hope this helps.
let me know if you need any help with anything else

oh yeah and you'll need a vtec ecu. i think i used a P2E if im not mistaken. whichever ecu goes with the y8 motor.
good luck with the swap.

Are you sure you removed an oil jet?

This is a picture of a d16y7 block... no oil jet.
I've read that 92-95 have oil jets in the block, 96+ have them in the head.
I can't remember any oil jets when I did my d16Y7/8 mini-me.
I'm not 100% sure though, because it's been a while back.

And you can't use the y7 ecu even if you have a vtec controller because the y7 ecu doesn't know what the hell vtec is. You need a p2p ecu for 96-98 or 99-00 depending on what year your harness is.
